More fish
In many fish species, the livery of the juvenile is very different from that of the adult. The adult emperor angelfish is the previous picture.
In many fish species, the livery of the juvenile is very different from that of the adult. The adult black beauty is dark gray.
Often confused with the bannerfish, the moorish idol is distinguished by the yellow spot above its mouth and its sharper color bands. Strange enough, their families are quite far apart.
The number of species is such that I devoted two pages to the fish encountered during this cruise. I could have planned much more but I wanted to leave room for other life forms, equally interesting.
On these two pages, the most difficult species to photograph are the extreme species:
-
sharks and mantas are big, and can only be photographed from some distance. But the range of an underwater strobe is only 3 to 5 meters, it is then difficult to have a good lighting.
-
anemonefish and damselfish are in perpetual motion and the camera latency time can ruin a good picture, as the fish may have moved away in a few tenths of a second.
Medium-sized species are often easier.
