Worms

All marine worms do not match our idea of worms. There are seven types of very different worms. During this trip, we saw two types:

  • flatworms ,

  • tube worms.

The flatworms are carnivorous or scavengers. They have few predators because they produce deterrent toxins.

The tube worms live in a tube that they grow.  The visible part is a branchial plume that filters the water and brings the animal oxygen and food. At the slightest warning, the worm disappears in its tube.
